Overview:

Sterling Toggle Foil Drive Systems range from a simple 10 X 15 Heidelberg Windmill to complex electronic drive systems that power foil for the Bobst 126 press. We design our own circuit boards to insure flawless communications between the electronic components. We engineer our foil drive systems using smooth acceleration and deceleration. We manufacture foil systems for OEM press manufacters as well as the trade finisher.

For simple clamshell presses we offer mechanical foil systems and electronic drive systems. The mechanical solution is an excellent choice for the customers who are under a tight budget and need an economical solution to drive foil. We provide all the necessary brackets and hardware to mount the foil unit to your press. The foil length is set using a special clutch. The mechanical foil system is engineered for long life and is manufacters with the finest materials. Our electronic foil drive systems can be configured with many different options depending upon the needs of the customer. Listed below please find the core modules.

Operator Interface:

Consists of a touch screen interface with an emergency stop. Our intuitive software allows the operator to enter the neccessary data in seconds. The press operator can make changes to the program on the fly without stopping the press. The operator can enter a short and long pull with repeat values for each. The touch screen interface can be mounted directly to the press with a swivel arm or it can mount in a console that sits on top of the platform.

Foil Rack:

The foil rack is located in the stripper section of the press. It is where the foil unwinds and pulls through the press. Depending upon the configuration the foil it may also rewind back onto the foil rack. The foil rack is ergonomically designed to allow the operator to access the neccessary components. The heart of the system consists of servo driven shafts that pull the foil when the press goes off impression.

Brush System:

Four rotating nylon brushes allow the foil to be removed from the press.

Options:

ON/OFF Impression Control - Allow the press to go off impression when there is no sheet in the platen. This avoids unnecessary delays when your press stamps your make-ready. The operator is able to enter the impression strengh via the touch screen rather than using the old fashion foot wheel.

Rail System - Allows for quick change over from foil stamping to diecutting. The foil rack easily slides out of the rear of the press so that the stripping section can be used.

External rewind unit - conveniently rolls the foil outside the press on a tightly wound core. This makes it easy to dispose the used foil, and your operators are not exposed to the unfriendly dust that the brush system creates.

Hologram Attachment - allows the press to register holograms using a fiber optic sensor.

Shim Detector - detects shim lines in foil patterns so that it never shows up on your product.
