Sterling Toggle manufactures foil drive systems for adding hot foil stamping capabilities to your press.
Our foil drive system will work on any press. There are two components to a foil drive system:
the motion control system and the unwind/rewind mechanism.
Our Foil Units can support up to 3 foils (channels).
Each axis is independently controlled. A proximity switch or encoder synchronizes pulls with the press.
Our motion control system uses our bell curve technology to produce very smooth foil pulls.
Motion Control System
The Foil Drive System consists of a touch screen panel that controls the motors for a given pull length.
The operator panel consists of a touch screen with an emergency stop.
The operator can enter a short and long pull with repeat values for each.
The press operator can make changes to the program on the fly without stopping the press. This cuts down on wasted foil.
The operator panel can be mounted directly on to the press with a swivel arm or it can mount on a wall.

Options
Hologram Attachment - allows the press to register holograms using a hologram register mark sensor.
Shim Detector - detects shim lines in foil patterns so that it never shows up on your product.
The shim register mark sensor is used to detect the small gap at the seam and make the first stamping adjacent to it. The software calculates how many stampings will fit
between the seam lines and after stamping that number, it will skip over the seam and repeat the process.
Unwind/Rewind Racks
We provide all the necessary racks, brackets and hardware to mount the foil unit to your press.
The mechanical foil system is engineered for long life and is manufactured with the finest materials.
Our electronic foil drive system can be configured with many different options depending upon the needs of the customer.
We manufacture foil systems for OEM press manufacturers as well as the trade finisher.
Special configurations and higher power motor/driver combinations are also available.
Installing on a Diecutting Press
Foil racks are mounted in the stripping section of the press.
The foil rack is ergonomically designed to allow the operator easy access to the necessary components.
It supports the unwind and rewind rolls of foil.
Removable Foil Racks allow for a quick change over from foil stamping to diecutting.
The foil rack easily slides out of the rear of the press so that the stripping section can be used.
Brush System for Stamping Press
This is used on stamping presses for removing used foil from the press.
Four rotating nylon brushes remove the unwanted foil.
Foil Rack on Clamshell Presses
For simple clamshell presses, we offer mechanical foil systems and electronic drive systems.
We can supply a heated honeycomb chase if the press is not equipped with heat.
